Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

By Staff | Oct 22, 2022

Editor’s note: During the course of a week, issues are covered that might not lend themselves to full editorial comment, but they are worthy of The Sunday Telegraph weighing in – thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral.

•••

THUMBS UP – Thumbs up to both Gov. Chris Sununu and state Sen. Tom Sherman on their spirited, but respectful, debate last week at Hampshire Hills Athletic Club in Milford. While the pair did indeed clash on some issues, they did end up agreeing on many as well. This was the third in a four-part candidate series organized by the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce. The final event of the series will be at LaBelle Winery in Amherst from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 and feature the U.S. House race, with incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster and Republican candidate Bob Burns attending.

•••

THUMBS UP – To United Way of Greater Nashua for another successful United We Sleep event. UW has done amazing work in brining this all-important issue to light. Let’s hope that – one day – homelessness and youth homelessness can be eradicated.

•••

Thumbs UP – To the Rotary Club of Nashua West for another successful Duck Derby. Club members worked on the event for months, which attracted more than 1,000 people to downtown Nashua last weekend. A total 8,339 ducks were sold this year. Funds raised during the event will be distributed to local nonprofit organizations.

•••

THUMBS UP – To Al Fulchino, Fulchino Vinyard and Sherry Wyskiel for their recent donation to the Hollis Police Department. The $1,100 donation was from funds raised at the Holllis Grape Festival 2022.

•••

THUMBS UP – To Fortin Gage Flowers & Gifts for its 7th annual Petal It Forward event, where floral bouquets were delivered to people at random locations in downtown Nashua. The intent of the program, which was created by the Society of American Florists, is to brighten unsuspecting people’s day by giving them two arrangements, one to keep and one to give to someone else.
